Saturday Night Live reveals first 4 hosts of season 47, including Jason Sudeikis
By Matt Moore
Saturday Night Live is counting down the days until season 47 kicks off on Oct. 2. And now, we know who will get the keys to Studio 8H as host for the first four episodes.
It all starts with Loki star Owen Wilson hosting SNL season 47 premiere. The Oct. 2 date also comes a few weeks before he stars in Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch. It marks Wilson’s first time as a host, although he has made a cameo and been impersonated on the show.
Next up will be Kim Kardashian West. Undoubtedly, this pick will get people talking. SNL has been averaging about one “controversial” host per season lately. Kardashian West is an early frontrunner for that title in season 47. She’ll host on Oct. 9.
Then, No Time to Die star Rami Malek will take his turn. Pete Davidson has played the Bohemian Rhapsody and Mr. Robot star before, but now SNL welcomes the real deal. Malek will host on Oct. 16.
Finally, Jason Sudeikis returns to SNL to host on Oct. 23. His Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso is the biggest comedy on the planet right now. Sudeikis is coming off an Emmy win that included a joke at Lorne Michaels’ expense.
Has Jason Sudeikis hosted Saturday Night Live before?
Jason Sudeikis seemed like an obvious pick to host the season 47 premiere. Ted Lasso is a giant hit and bringing back a former cast member always excites fans.
So while it was no surprise to see Sudeikis make the list for October hosts, it may surprise some SNL viewers to learn it will be his first time hosting the show.
Sudeikis left SNL in 2013. Several of his former castmates have hosted since then after leaving the show. Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg, Bill Hader, and Seth Meyers are among those who returned to Studio 8H.
So like the rest of the hosts announced by SNL, Sudeikis will be taking the main stage for the first time.
