Is Real Time with Bill Maher new tonight, September 17?
By Matt Moore
We’re rolling toward the fall and at the same time, Real Time with Bill Maher is rolling through season 19. But what should late-night TV fans expect to see tonight on HBO?
Love him or hate him, Bill Maher continues to drive conversation with his takes on the social and political issues of the day. It seems like every week, conservatives and liberals flip on how they feel about the opinionated Real Time host.
Fans can expect more of the same on Friday. There will be a brand new episode of Real Time with Bill Maher tonight.
Viewers should hear Maher’s reaction to California Governor Gavin Newsome defeating the recall vote. Other topics that could come up tonight include the Emmys, the Pentagon’s admission to a mistake in Afghanistan, and Rudy Giuliani’s 9/11 speech.
Who’s on Real Time with Bill Maher tonight?
First up, Bill Maher will interview Anne Applebaum. This will mark her first visit to Real Time with Bill Maher.
Applebaum is a Pulitzer-prize winner who can be read in The Atlantic. The historian is also the author of Twilight of Democracy: The Seductive Lure of Authoritarianism. She should provide insight into how nationalism and autocracy have found momentum in the west.
Then, it’s time for the panel. Both guests are returning faces to Real Time.
Author and pundit Dan Savage has made over 15 Real Time appearances. The Savage Love columnist also hosts the “Savage Lovecast” podcast. His new book is Savage Love from A to Z: Advice on Sex and Relationships, Dating and Mating, Exes and Extras.
Author and journalist Gillian Tett makes her second visit to Bill Maher’s show. She serves as the Chair of the editorial board and U.S. Editor-at-Large of The Financial Times. Her latest book is Anthro-Vision: A New Way to See in Business and Life.
