The Late Late Show with James Corden returns tonight and in a major way. The late-night TV show will feature Lorde all week long.
The Late Late Show hasn’t been seen since July 1. Since then, James Corden and his staff have been on a summer break. But it’s back to business starting on Monday night.
James Corden returns with a brand new episode tonight, and a special one at that. Lorde will be on the show, kicking off a week of appearances on the CBS late-night show.
Tonight, Lorde serves as the musical guest following Corden’s interview with Sweet Girl and Dune star Jason Momoa.
On Tuesday night, the New Zealand singer will be in the guest chair in addition to acting as the musical guest. She’ll cap the week off with two more performances on Wednesday and Thursday.
Fans can expect Lorde to perform songs of her new album Solar Power. The album went live on Aug. 20, boosted by singles such as “Solar Power,” “Stoned at the Nail Salon,” and “Mood Ring.”
Will Lorde help James Corden bring back Carpool Karaoke?
Lorde’s Late Late Show residency means that she’ll likely appear in more than just one interview and her musical performances. James Corden is typically pretty good at putting his guests to work, whether in pretaped sketches or games.
Lorde is a prime candidate to appear in Carpool Karaoke. She’s a wildly talented singer and has yet to appear in the segment. However, the pandemic led The Late Late Show to put the popular segment on hiatus. There hasn’t been a new edition since Niall Horan back in March 2020.
But with vaccinations and loosened restrictions, now may be the time for Corden to get back behind the wheel (or behind the tow truck) and revive the bit. And considering Lorde has yet to appear in the segment,
The Late Late Show hasn’t mentioned anything yet or dropped any hints, so it may not happen. On the other hand, the show may be holding out for a surprise. Stay tuned.
