Late night TV: 5 guests to watch this week – April 26, 2021
By Matt Moore
April has been an eventful month, to say the least, and we’re not done yet. Late night TV has been on top of everything and fans can anticipate more of the same this week.
Late night monologues have covered the coronavirus vaccine, the Derek Chauvin verdict, scandals involving Matt Gaetz, Ted Cruz, and Marjorie Taylor Greene, and much more. Hosts like Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, and Jimmy Fallon are definitely on top of their games in April.
In addition, we have seen a lot of fan-favorite celebrities and A-list stars. Gal Gadot, Taylor Swift, President George W. Bush, Anna Kendrick, and Michael Strahan are among some of the names we’ve seen on late night TV in April.
Don’t expect things to slow down just because we’re reaching the end of the month. There is another great blend of actors, comedians, athletes, and politicians on the schedule this week. With that in mind, here are Last Night On’s picks for the five guests you won’t want to miss.
Late night TV guests to watch: Anthony Mackie
The man currently at the center of the Marvel Cinematic Universe kicks off the week in late night TV. Catch Anthony Mackie on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday, April 26.
Last Friday was the finale of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+. The series was incredibly popular with Marvel fans, thanks in part to the chemistry between Mackie and co-star Sebastian Stan (the Winter Soldier).
We won’t get into any spoilers in case you still need to catch up. But there is a lot to look forward to when it comes to Mackie in the MCU, so expect some teases and hints during his interview on The Late Show.
Late night TV guests to watch: Michael Che
Saturday Night Live cast member and “Weekend Update” anchor Michael Che returns to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. See him on Tuesday, April 27.
Che, who also serves as one of SNL’s head writers, is looking at the home stretch of season 17. It was recently announced that Elon Musk will host the next episode, slated for May 8. The public response has been strong and Che is sure to have some thoughts on the situation.
The comedian will also be on to promote his upcoming HBO Max series That Damn Michael Che. The sketch show will premiere on May 6.
Late night TV guests to watch: Mike Lindell
Well, it’s really happening. MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell is set to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday, April 28.
Jimmy Kimmel has been obsessed with Lindell as the MyPillow Guy has gone on a crusade to prove the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump. Lindell’s efforts have led to boycotts against MyPillow and a $1.3 billion lawsuit from Dominion Voting Systems.
But Lindell caught wind of Kimmel’s obsession and basically invited himself on the show. Kimmel was game and now we’ll see the two meet in person on Wednesday. It’s hard to know exactly how the interview will go but it will be must-see TV.
Late night TV guests to watch: Maya Rudolph
We’re sticking with Jimmy Kimmel Live! for the next guest on the list. Don’t miss Maya Rudolph on the ABC show on Thursday, April 29.
Rudolph has already had a busy year. After making a handful of cameos as Vice President Kamala Harris, Rudolph finally hosted Saturday Night Live back in March.
She has a lot more coming up. She’s featured as a voice actor in the Disney animated film Luca set to release soon. Rudolph’s voice is also featured in The Mitchells vs. The Machines, an animated sci-fi comedy coming to Netflix on April 30 after a limited theatrical release.
Late night TV guests to watch: Michael B. Jordan
Close out your late night TV week with one of Hollywood’s most popular actors. Michael B. Jordan comes to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, April 29.
Jordan has several projects worth promoting or at the very least, teasing. Starting April 30, fans can see him as the Tom Clancy character John Clark in the Amazon Prime movie Without Remorse. At the end of the year, he’ll star in the drama A Journal for Jordan directed by Denzel Washington.
The actor is also working on another entry in the Creed series, will be a featured voice in the Marvel TV series What If…?, and is producing a Static Shock movie for Warner Bros. Safe to say Jordan has plenty to talk about on The Tonight Show.
