Late night TV is back this week! After nearly every show was off this week, fans can expect an (almost) full schedule of new shows starting tonight.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! was the only show airing new content last week. Jimmy Kimmel was more than up to the challenge, delivering monologues on former President Donald Trump’s website, Representative Matt Gaetz’s scandal, and Easter.

Fans can expect Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, and other hosts to weigh in on those topics and more this week. Late Night with Seth Meyers is the only show that won’t be back this week.

Those shows that are returning will have a lot of help from their guests. More in-person guests can be seen each night, adding energy that hasn’t been seen consistently in a year. And with so many new shows and movies on the horizon, fan-favorite stars are coming to late night more and more often. There also remains a nice balance of personalities from politics and journalism that ensures there’s something for everyone.

With that being said, here are Last Night On’s picks for the five late night TV guests fans should be most excited to see this week. Be sure to let us know who you’ll be tuning in to watch.

Late night TV guests to watch: John Cena

One of the biggest, and most popular, stars in the world starts your week of late night TV. Catch John Cena on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday, April 5.

Cena made his name in the WWE and was able to become one of the sport’s biggest crossover success stories. Cena has had his hands in music, television, movies, and more with no signs of slowing down.

Right now, he can be seen as the co-host of Wipeout. The obstacle course game show was rebooted on TBS and premiered earlier this month. Cena will then be seen in director James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad coming to theaters and HBO Max in August. The actor even landed a spinoff series on HBO Max based on his character the Peacemaker.

So with a schedule that busy, Cena will have plenty to talk about when he joins Stephen Colbert on The Late Show.

Late night TV guests to watch: Will Forte

One of comedy’s most creative talents will be featured on late night TV this week. Don’t miss Will Forte on Conan on Monday, April 5.

Forte won’t be the only late night TV guest this week with Saturday Night Live connections. Current cast members Pete Davidson and Kenan Thompson, former writer Bob Odenkirk, and this week’s host Carey Mulligan are all set to appear.

But SNL fans will want to see Will Forte’s chat with Conan O’Brien. It’s sure to cover the MacGruber series set to premiere on Peacock soon. Fans of the cult classic film have been praying for more from Forte’s bumbling special operations agent. Now, we’ll get an update from the man himself.

Forte can also be heard in the animated series The Great North on Fox. Season one is set to continue with a new episode on April 11.

Late night TV guests to watch: Amber Ruffin

We always like a late night TV crossover event and we’ll get another this week. See Amber Ruffin on A Little Late with Lilly Singh on Wednesday, April 7.

If you’re not on the Amber Ruffin Show bandwagon yet, you’re missing out on one of late night TV’s best shows. Amber Ruffin delivers the perfect blend of silly, absurd comedy with timely, poignant commentary on Peacock.

It is fitting that Ruffin will be on A Little Late. Earlier this year, The Amber Ruffin Show made its network debut on NBC when it replaced repeat episodes of Lilly Singh’s show.

Expect Singh and Ruffin to compare notes on being relatively new at the late night hosting game, what it’s like filming during the pandemic, and their experiences as women of color in late night.

Late night TV guests to watch: Hunter Biden

Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, will be one of late night TV’s most surprising guests this week. Tune in to Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday, April 8.

Biden has led a difficult life in and out of the public’s eye. His struggles with alcohol and drug addiction have been well-documented. Biden became a central figure in the 2020 presidential election as Donald Trump and his allies sought to connect Biden to money laundering schemes in China. The seizure of a laptop allegedly belonging to Hunter Biden became a national story.

Now Biden is set to release his memoir Beautiful Things. He’ll promote it in his interview with Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday. It will be interesting to see how deep Kimmel chooses to get in his interview or if he’ll try to keep things a bit lighter.

Late night TV guests to watch: Carey Mulligan

Close out your late night TV week with an Oscar nominee. See Carey Mulligan on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, April 8.

Mulligan was nominated for Best Actress for her work in the black comedy thriller Promising Young Woman. The Academy Awards are set for April 25.

In the meantime, Mulligan is set to make her Saturday Night Live debut. She will host the April 10 show with musical guest Kid Cudi. So it makes sense that she’ll check in with The Tonight Show and Jimmy Fallon while she’s in the building. Fans curious to see how Mulligan will perform on the sketch show should get a preview when she sits down with Fallon.
