What should Saturday Night Live fans expect to see tonight on NBC?

Happy New Year! And what better way to start 2021 than having it open up on a weekend? For late night television fans, a new episode of Saturday Night Live wouldn’t hurt.

Season 46 got off to a fast start with six consecutive episodes, most of which were dedicated to covering the presidential election. But with President-elect Joe Biden ready to take office, those days are in the past and with it, the days of seeing Jim Carrey as Biden and perhaps even Alec Baldwin as President Donald Trump.

SNL has been hit or miss since then as it tried to build back momentum with hosts like Jason Bateman and Kristen Wiig before the holidays hit. A new year provides the opportunity for a fresh start.

But that fresh start won’t start tonight. There will not be a new episode of Saturday Night Live. The show remains on its annual holiday hiatus. Instead, NBC will reair the Oct. 31 episode hosted by John Mulaney with musical guest The Strokes.
