Saturday Night Live revealed who will be hosting when the show returns in December

Saturday Night Live has been on a break after six consecutive shows opened season 46. The show plans to return next month and now we know who will be hosting.

Jason Bateman, Timothée Chalamet, and Kristin Wiig will get SNL through Dec. 2020. They will be joined by musical guests Morgan Wallen, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, and Dua Lipa, respectively.

The three hosts will be expected to match the high bar set by the hosts we’ve already seen in season 46. Comedians Chris Rock, John Mulaney, and Dave Chappelle have stood out, as have first-time hosts Bill Burr, Issa Rae, and Adele.

Jason Bateman returns to Saturday Night Live for the first time since 2005

Jason Bateman’s career began in 1980, meaning he’s been around for almost as long as Saturday Night Live. Surprisingly, he has only hosted the show once before. 15 years after making his SNL debut, Bateman will be back on Dec. 5.

Bateman’s comedy career has certainly elevated over the years thanks to roles in Arrested Development and Horrible Bosses. He should have no problem jumping back in to SNL and keeping up with the cast.

Bateman will be supported by Morgan Wallen as the musical guest. Fans will recall that Wallen was originally set to appear with Bill Burr earlier this season but was dropped after violating COVID-19 protocols.

Timothée Chalamet has been referenced a number of times on Saturday Night Live

After being parodied and having his name dropped on Saturday Night Live for years, Timothée Chalamet will get a chance to host. He’s scheduled for the Dec. 12 show.

Most notably, Chalamet has been played by Chloe Fineman in a few sketches. Fineman debuted the impression during Saturday Night Live at Home last season, taking over the role from Pete Davidson.

Chalamet was also mentioned as part of Baby Yoda’s squad during a “Weekend Update” bit last season. There is a good chance the actor has some fun with his SNL counterpart in Fineman.

CHalamet has two big movies coming out in 2021 that he’ll surely want to promote while hosting. Dune and The French Dispatch are both set to release next year.

Kristen Wiig comes back to Saturday Night Live for Christmas

Saturday Night Live will turn to a familiar face for its Christmas episode. Former cast member Kristen Wiig returns to host on Dec. 19.

Wiig has hosted twice before as well as in an unofficial capacity during the season 46 finale that was part of Saturday Night Live at Home. She was last in Studio 8H hosting in 2016.

Wiig left SNL as one of it most popular cast members of all time and a successful comedic actress. When she comes back for Christmas, it will be as the star of a superhero movie. Fans can see her square off against Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman 1984 coming to HBO Max on Dec. 25.

Being the Christmas show, you can be sure there will be some surprises planned. It wouldn’t be a shock if some of Wiig’s past Saturday Night Live co-stars joined her. Fred Armisen, Maya Rudolph, and Bill Hader jump out as early contenders.
