Barack Obama visits Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight: What to watch for
By Matt Moore
President Barack Obama returns to Jimmy Kimmel Live! tonight for another interview
President Barack Obama has been back in the spotlight over the past few months, supporting his former vice president and promoting his new memoir. The publicity tour comes to Jimmy Kimmel Live! tonight.
It is safe to say that the current White House occupant won’t be appearing on any late night television shows to end his term or when he leaves office. President Donald Trump made the rounds while running in 2016 but now the closest he gets to late night TV is watching at home.
President Obama has a much better relationship with late night. Hosts like Jimmy Kimmel and Conan O’Brien led White House Correspondents Dinners during the Obama years and the 44th president appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and others.
Now he’s back talking to Kimmel tonight. Keep reading for Last Night On’s preview of what to expect on a very special episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
What to watch for when President Barack Obama visits Jimmy Kimmel Live!
It’s not too hard to figure out what the discussion topics will be tonight. Expect Jimmy Kimmel to ask President Obama about why Joe Biden is the right choice to lead the country now. The transition of power and the government’s pandemic response are also likely to come up.
President Obama will also want to cover his memoir A Promised Land. He should share some stories about his time in office. Knowing Kimmel, he’ll probably want something on the lighter side, too.
There is also a good chance that Kimmel tries to bait President Obama into insulting his successor. Don’t expect anything that will make too big of a splash but as we saw on the campaign trail, President Obama knows how to get in a dig when he wants.
Also, look for President Obama to do something outside of just the interview. In the past, we’ve seen him participate in his own very special edition of “Mean Tweets” twice. Another sequel is unlikely as Kimmel and his guest will want to focus on the positives tonight. Still, the video is worth revisiting.
