In A Closer Look, Seth Meyers reacted to President Donald Trump’s administration giving up on controlling the pandemic

For months, Seth Meyers has argued that President Donald Trump has no interest in combating the pandemic or sincerely addressing the health crisis. It now sounds as if the administration has admitted as much as Meyers explained last night in “A Closer Look.”

Meyers has hammered President Trump for his pandemic response from the onset. Whether it was downplaying the severity, contradicting medical experts, or touting miracle cures, nothing President Trump said or did was considered the right move in Meyers’ opinion.

COVID-19 cases continue to spike around the country and it is the defining issue in the election that is just a week away. But you wouldn’t know that by listening to President Trump during his rallies or by listening to his chief of staff Mark Meadows. Meadows told CNN that the pandemic cannot be controlled, prompting a response of “why not?” from anchor Jake Tapper.

Seth Meyers took it a step further in “A Closer Look.” The Late Night host examined what he calls the administration’s failures when it comes to the pandemic and why it is waving the white flag now.

Seth Meyers rips President Trump for whining over COVID-19 media coverage

Seth Meyers has seen little from President Donald Trump to suggest he has any interest in governing. The president has always preferred the attention, admiration, and power that comes with his position rather than the responsibilities. This has been especially evident to Meyers during the pandemic.

Last night’s edition of “A Closer Look” focused on more proof for Meyers’ argument. The president is now complaining that the pandemic is getting too much attention from the media. He stated that it’s all he sees on television. President Trump’s television habits have always been an issue but seem especially irritating given the state of the country under his watch, says Meyers.

This comes on the heels of President Trump walking out of his 60 Minutes interview last week. It was an incident that also caught the attention of “A Closer Look” as Meyers mocked the president’s meltdown over questions regarding his pandemic response.

Meyers lays out the case for how President Trump’s priorities have never been in the right order. The pandemic should have been a wake-up call but the president was too busy worrying about what the media were saying and how he could restart his rallies. In the end, it’s another piece of evidence in Late Night‘s case against the Trump administration.
