Sarah Cooper’s Netflix special will get help from Maya Rudolph and more big names
Just about everyone will want to forget 2020 as quickly as possible. But for comedian Sarah Cooper, the year has been unforgettable from a professional standpoint. Things will reach a new highpoint with Sarah Cooper: Everything’s Fine, her first Netflix special.
Cooper has gone from a relatively unknown stand-up comedian and author to full-blown comedy superstar thanks to TikTok. Her lip sync videos set to audio from President Donald Trump became a sensation, boosted by a content-starved audience during the start of the pandemic.
She’s turned that into an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and followed that up with a turn as guest host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! over the summer. Now Cooper has her own comedy special coming to Netflix with some help from a few late night TV veterans.
Some of entertainment’s biggest stars will be helping Sarah Cooper
The sketch show will feature Cooper’s take on issues including politics and race. It will be produced by Saturday Night Live alum Maya Rudolph. The lineup of guest stars includes other SNL veterans Fred Armisen and Ben Stiller.
Other guests slated to join Cooper include Jon Hamm, Aubrey Plaza, Helen Mirren, Megan Thee Stallion, Jane Lynch, and Tommy Davidson.
If you’ve seen Cooper on The Tonight Show or Kimmel!, then you know her talents go far beyond just TikTok videos. She absolutely deserves this special and the impressive fanbase she’s developed over a few short months should show her incredible support.
Partnering with Maya Rudolph only adds to Cooper’s legitimacy. Rudolph is back at Saturday Night Live right now in her Emmy Award-winning role as Senator Kamala Harris. With Everything’s Fine set to launch on Oct. 27, Rudolph bringing Cooper into SNL for a cameo may not be out of the question. Stay tuned.
