Conan O’Brien and Team Coco have big plans for podcasts thanks to a new deal with Audible

What started off as Conan O’Brien searching for a friend has turned into a massive podcast and audio empire for Team Coco. Things are only set to get bigger and better following a new multi-project deal with Audible.

“Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” became a massive success and shot up the comedy podcast charts when it debuted in 2018. Since then, Team Coco has launched a number of other podcasts and scripted audio series including “The Three Questions with Andy Richter,” “Dads the Podcast,” and “Smartr.”

Now Audible has signed a new deal with Team Coco to develop “scripted and unscripted episodic series, non-fiction documentaries, and other audio original projects.” Given the network of actors, comedians, and personalities that Team Coco has developed over the years, fans are sure to see some familiar names as well as new stars behind these projects.

Team Coco and Audible’s first collaboration will be A Total Switch Show

We already know that the first scripted audio series from Team Coco and Audible will be “A Total Switch Show.” Debuting May 6, 2021, it will star the real-life mother and daughter duo of Lea Thompson and Zoey Deutch.

“A Total Switch Show” will be a fresh take on the well-known body-switching tale. Filtered through the comedic stylings of Team Coco also ensures it will be familiar to Conan O’Brien fans while also standing out from any other story. Audible described the series like this:

"A Total Switch Show follows 23-year-old Emma and her 54-year-old mom Lisa who have switched bodies, but unlike the movies, no amount of lesson learning will switch them back. A Total Switch Show is a darkly existential take on the well-known format, following a control freak mother and her disdainful daughter who waste no time completely firebombing each other’s lives once they switch bodies."

In addition to Thompson and Deutch, Team Coco has assembled an all-star comedy team for “A Total Switch.” It co-stars Saturday Night Live alumni Bobby Moynihan and Sasheer Zamata, Judy Greer, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Bradley Whitford, Kimberly Hebert Gregory, and Giancarlo Esposito.

The writing and production staff also comes from an impressive comedy background. Head writer Matt Powers (ClickHole) is joined by Agathe Panaretos (Chelsea), Madelyn Deutch (The Year Of Spectacular Men), Sam West (Sex House), and Julie Greiner.

The more audiences can be exposed to Team Coco’s brand of humor, the better. Conan O’Brien has identified the perfect medium to expand his brand and share his silliness while putting the spotlight on others.

Past interviews have suggested that the late-night television format was getting a bit stale for O’Brien. He has reinvited Conan and now his podcast and audio branch continue to be a massive success, exciting the comedian and his expanding fanbase.
