James Corden says right-wing conspiracy theorists dragged him into a political scandal involving Joe Biden

If you were scrolling through Twitter over the weekend, you may have come across a tweet from President Donald Trump attacking former Vice President Joe Biden for using a teleprompter during an interview. That interview was for The Late Late Show and its host, James Corden, has responded.

According to President Trump, Vice President Biden’s “handlers” are helping him get through the campaign so that he can then resign and let Senator Kamala Harris become president. It is a theory that piggybacks off others claiming Vice President Biden is mentally unfit for office and cannot speak in public or live without being fed lines.

The Late Late Show with James Corden typically doesn’t find itself at the center of political controversies. President Trump and his allies typically involve The Late Show with Stephen Colbert or Jimmy Kimmel Live! when discussing late-night’s agenda.

In response to this extra attention, James Corden responded to what he called a “conspiracy theory” last night on The Late Late Show. The comedian provided context to his interview with Vice President Biden and attempted to debunk any conspiracies:

James Corden has a reasonable explanation for the teleprompter reflection

James Corden makes sure to have a little fun with the “controversy” before addressing why it is a “fake” story. Corden’s interview with Vice President Biden happened back in April, yet it was only over this past weekend did it attract so much attention. While Corden appreciates the press for The Late Late Show, it is a bit late for a lack of a better term. Corden also references the last scandal he found himself in, reminding his viewers of how angry everyone was when they discovered Corden doesn’t always drive during “Carpool Karaoke.”

Corden does get serious and offer a rational explanation for the reflection that conspiracy theorists say prove Vice President Biden was being fed lines. The teleprompter is for Corden and is visible to all Late Late Show guests communicating via Zoom.

The comedian isn’t holding his breath that his explanation with end the theories or result in President Trump taking down his tweet endorsing the idea. The cat is already out of the bag but at least the Late Late Show host did what he could to set the record straight.
