Jimmy Kimmel Live announces more guest hosts
By Matt Moore
It’s another week of guest hosts on Jimmy Kimmel Live! starting tonight
Late-night television fans will be happy to know that Jimmy Kimmel Live! is back this week with all-new episodes. Not only that, but the ABC show will continue to showcase guest hosts all week long.
After taking a week off and Labor Day, Jimmy Kimmel Live! returns tonight at 11:35 PM ET. The first guest host to take center stage is Josh Gad. The actor will interview actress Daisy Ridley in what should be an entertaining conversation between the two friends.
Things keep rolling on Tuesday night when country music star Brad Paisley gets a chance to host. Paisley will chat with The Office star Rainn Wilson. The actor has a couple projects to promote including his web series An Idiot’s Guide to Climate Change and the Amazon Prime movie Utopia.
On Wednesday, Sept. 10, another musician gets a chance to guest host. Jimmy Kimmel Live! will be put in the hands of John Legend. Legend is set to interview DJ Khaled, who never disappoints when he’s on camera.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! saves the biggest star for last as Samuel L. Jackson will close out the week on Friday, Sept. 11. Jackson will interview Tenant star John David Washington before introducing a performance by Swedish singer Snoh Aalegra.
Jimmy Kimmel Live!’s summer of guest hosts has been a huge success
It’s not easy to host a late-night talk show, especially during a pandemic when interviews are virtual and there is no studio audience. Even Jimmy Kimmel himself had a little trouble adjusting to the new normal before taking off for his summer vacation.
That makes the performances of Jimmy Kimmel Live!‘s guest hosts all the more impressive. While most, if not all, have had years of experience on stage and on television, there is no guarantee that hosting a late-night show would work.
Yet from comedians like David Spade and Sarah Cooper to musicians like Dua Lipa, it has been one hit after another for the ABC show. It must give Kimmel a sense of relief that the show kept running smoothly without him. And ABC is no doubt thrilled considering Kimmel is schedule to take the summer of 2021 and 2022 off as well.
Fans will be happy when Kimmel finally does return and just in time for the election to heat up. But in the meantime, nobody can complain about the entertainment value the show’s guest hosts have provided all summer long.
