Here are five guests coming to late-night TV this week fans won’t want to miss
It may be Monday, but at least it’s Labor Day. For so many people, that means an extra day off of work and one more day before the unofficial end of summer. The good news is that late-night TV is back this week with some can’t-miss guests.
That’s not to say that all of late-night TV is back this week. Like the rest of us, the hosts, staff, and crew will be enjoying their Labor Day before getting back to work. That means no new episodes of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. or anyone else tonight.
But when things get back on track on Tuesday, they come back with a bang. WIth the fall season approaching, new television series, comedy specials, and movies are on the way. It means that late-night is once again the best place for fan-favorite stars and celebrities to plug their latest project.
Here are Last Night On’s picks for five guests to watch this week. Be sure to let us know who you’ll be tuning in to see!
Late-night TV guest to watch: Daisy Ridley
Jimmy Kimmel Live!‘s summer of guests hosts continues on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Actor Josh Gad will run the show and his guest will be Daisy Ridley.
The actress became an international star as Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. She recently wrapped up the trilogy with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Still, those movies didn’t exactly lead to a ton of work for Ridley.
Her experience with The Rise of Skywalker is sure to come up in her conversation with Gad, her co-star from the 2017 film Murder on the Orient Express. Ridley also has new projects to discuss, including her voice role in the upcoming adventure/mystery video game “12 Minutes.”
Late-night TV guest to watch: Kevin Hart
One of late-night TV’s best guests returns on Wednesday, Sept. 9. Fans can watch Kevin Hart on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Whether it is riding a roller coaster with Jimmy Fallon or taking a Lyft with Conan O’Brien, Hart has proven to be up for anything on late-night and that he can bring the laughs. Unfortuanately, circumstances prevent any remote piece coming this time but Hart is one of the funniest people on the planet so his interview should be no less entertaining.
Hart recently revealed that he was diagnosed with COVID-19 earlier this year so that is certainly a topic that could come up. The actor was also cast in a Planes, Trains & Automobiles remake with Will Smith so there are no shortage of topics for Fallon to cover.
Late-night TV guest to watch: Gabrielle Union
Actress Gabrielle Union makes her return to late-night television this week. Fans can see her on The Late Late Show with James Corden on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
Union recently spoke out about the mental health issues she has endured during this period of social unrest, violence, and the pandemic. It is a sentiment that many people can relate to and Union continues to use her platform to speak about issues she feels are important.
Expect that to continue on The Late Late Show. Union built up a dedicated fanbase thanks to her work on television and in films. But her contributions to society have gone way beyond entertainment, making her a voice to listen to whenever she speaks.
Late-night TV guest to watch: Michael Cohen
It wouldn’t be late-night these days without a political guest. President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney Michael Cohen is on Late Night with Seth Meyers Thursday, Sept. 10.
Cohen will be promoting his tell-all book Disloyal. Excerpts have already started to come out and it spells more bad press for President Trump. With that being said, Cohen’s book isn’t exactly going to change anyone’s opinion one way or the other on Donald Trump.
Still, the interview will be interesting to watch. The subject matter is in Seth Meyers’ wheelhouse and Cohen knows how to make headlines. You can be sure that something he says on Late Night will be in the news the next day.
Late-night TV guest to watch: Kevin Nealon
Saturday Night Live fans will want to tune into Conan on Thursday, Sept. 10. The TBS late-night show welcomes Kevin Nealon as the guest.
Nealon made a name for himself at SNL and to many, he’s the best “Weekend Update” anchor the segment has ever had. Nealon has continued to pop up in comedies and sitcoms, reminding fans of why he was so beloved on SNL.
The comedian has an excellent relationship with Conan O’Brien which makes every interview the two do together entertaining. Nealon will be promoting “Kevin Nealon: Behind the Mask,” his virtual comedy show streaming starting Saturday, Sept. 12.
