What should Real Time with Bill Maher fans expect to see tonight?

It’s finally Friday and Labor Day is around the corner. Is Real Time with Bill Maher among those who are getting an early jump on the long weekend or is it business as usual for the HBO late-night show?

Just last week, Real TIme with Bill Maher moved from Bill Maher’s backyard back to its studio in California. It was the latest in a streak of late-night shows getting back to “normal,” albeit with no live audience and limited crew members.

The canned laughter and stock footage of crowds came with him but Maher seemed happy to be back in his familiar Real Time settings. However, he didn’t get to enjoy those surroundings for very long.

That’s because there will not be a new episode of Real Time with Bill Maher tonight. Instead, HBO will be replaying last week’s episode that featured former politician Trey Gowdy and The Lincoln Project co-founder Rick WIlson.

Real Time with Bill Maher has been enjoying another strong season

A Labor Day break shouldn’t come as a surprise to longtime Real Time viewers. Bill Maher’s show typically takes a week off at the end of Aug. only to come back strong for the fall.

Maher is likely eager to continue the momentum he’s been building during season 18. Whether you agree with him or not, the Real Time host has found his name trending and in headlines time and time again in 2020.

His takes on the novel coronavirus pandemic have focused primarily on the need for systematic change in American eating habits. He’s also called on millennials to save the economy by going out shopping and going to restaurants.

On the political front, Maher has caught the attention of President Donald Trump thanks to a mock eulogy. Maher has also warned that President Trump won’t leave the White House if former Vice President Joe Biden defeats him. And just recently, Maher admitted that he’s nervous about the 2020 election and the prospect of another Trump victory.

These are the type of opinions that get people talking and bring attention to Real Time, whether it is in support of Maher’s views or to counter them. It’s why the show has been on HBO since 2003 and why it shows no signs of slowing down.
