Ozark’s Julia Garner shows off flawless Britney Spears and Gwen Stefani impressions

Julia Garner showed off a hidden talent on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

Fans of Netflix’s Ozark know that to call actress Julia Garner “talented” is an understatement. On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Garner proved that those talents go well beyond portraying the foul-mouthed, no-nonsense Ruth Langmore.

Garner’s performance on Ozark was recognized in 2019 when she won the Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama. She’ll look to make it two in a row this year after picking up another nomination.

It can be hard to picture Garner in a comedy or showing off a silly side if you only know her from Ozark. With some help from Jimmy Fallon, she was able to show a much different side of herself during her Tonight Show interview.

Garner explained how comedy is in her blood and how her family performed sketches to keep themselves entertained. The actress then showed off a talent for impersonations by recreating the look and sound of some famous pop stars:

After revealing that The Tonight Show holds a special place in her heart thanks to her marriage to Mark Foster of Foster the People, Garner explained her comedy background. Her mother, Tami Gingold, had a successful comedy career in Israel before continuing to put on bits for the family.

Garner recreates her mother’s Russian accent to the delight of Jimmy Fallon. Then she really shows off by embodying both Britney Spears and Gwen Stefani. Between the accent, the celebrity impressions, the dramatic acting skills, and the popularity of Ozark with just one season left, it sounds like the perfect recipe for Julia Garner to host Saturday Night Live. In one short Tonight Show interview, she proved she has all the tools to be a success. We’ll have to wait and see.
