Dua Lipa takes over Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight

Dua Lipa will be front and center on tonight’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!

In a career that continues to reach new levels, singer Dua Lipa will add a new credit to her resume tonight: late-night television host. The singer is next in line to guest-host Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

Lipa’s music career began in 2015 where she began building a strong fanbase across Europe around the release of 2017’s Dua Lipa and songs like “Be the One” and “New Rules.” Then came Future Nostalgia and its hit singles “Don’t Start Now,” “Physical,” and “Future Nostalgia.”

The singer has kept busy during the pandemic that cancelled her tour as it did for other artists. Lipa has been seen performing on the Graduate Together: America Honors the High School Class of 2020 television special, the “Dream With Us” online event organized by One Humanity and Constellation to raise money for COVID-19 patients, and James Corden’s HomeFest concert event.

Now she returns to the spotlight as a guest host of Jimmy Kimmel Live!. The ABC late-night show has been turning to celebrities to fill in for the vacationing Jimmy Kimmel all summer. Past hosts have included Anthony Anderson, Billy Eichner, and Whitney Cummings.

Typically the show allows the guest host to pick his or her own guest to interview. That certainly seems like the case as Dua Lipa is set to chat with Gwen Stefani tonight.

Dua Lipa already has a long history with late-night television

Dua Lipa and late-night television have found themselves in a mutually beneficial relationship. The 24-year-old singer has made appearances on multiple shows, showing off her musical talents for the audience and bringing in her own fans as viewers.

Lipa was the musical guest in a 2018 episode of Saturday Night Live and has also visited The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Graham Norton Show, The Late Late Show with James Corden, and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Lipa also has five Jimmy Kimmel Live! appearances to her name as the musical guest. And then there is the one time she visited Kimmel not at his studio but in his bedroom:

Now Lipa is making the jump from musical guest to host. It is a sign of where her career is right now and the confidence a network like ABC has in the singer making tonight’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! a special event. Picking Lipa will prove to be a wise decision when her fans tune in to support the singer and her latest accomplishment.
