Seth Meyers: A Closer Look at Trump’s campaign changes and strategy

Seth Meyers took A Closer Look at President Donald Trump’s re-election strategy
President Donald Trump trails former Vice President Joe Biden in nearly every poll on the 2020 election. But with months to go before ballots are cast, it’s not quite time for desperation to set in. Panic may be the better term as Seth Meyers explained in Thursday night’s edition of “A Closer Look” on Late Night.
Despite the president’s claims that polls are fake or “suppression polls,” it is difficult to find one that sees the Republican incumbent leading his Democratic challenger. The 2016 election taught everyone that pre-election polls aren’t guaranteed to come true so there is certainly time for things to change for Team Trump.
And if they do, it will be under new leadership. President Trump’s re-election campaign announced that campaign manager Brad Parscale has been replaced with Bill Stepien.
Seth Meyers examined what this move tells us about the state of Trump 2020 in “A Closer Look.” The Late Night host also covered how some strategies from 2016 are creeping back into the president’s re-election bid.
Seth Meyers argued that President Donald Trump can’t talk his way out of this crisis
Former Vice President Joe Biden’s lead over President Donald Trump seems to be less about what he is doing and more about what the current administration has done. Meyers highlights how President Trump has failed to portray Vice President Biden as corrupt or weak. Meanwhile, his administration has failed to rise to the occasion when it came to leading the country through the pandemic.
“A Closer Look” says that it all adds up to a situation that President Trump can’t B.S. his way out of. Late Night and other shows have consistently pointed out how President Trump’s usual methods of talking in circles and misleading statements don’t work when hospitalizations and deaths from COVID-19 are reported.
The actual solution is to govern. But as Meyers has seen time and time again over the past four years, President Trump is incapable of governing. The Late Night host says that most Americans have seen the same thing and that’s why former Vice President Joe Biden has such a significant lead in the race for the White House.
