Jon Stewart checked in with Stephen Colbert to share a new name for Donald Trump

Jon Stewart has been out of the late night television game for a few years now but that doesn’t mean he isn’t coming up with new material. The former Daily Show host joined The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and shared some new nicknames for President Donald Trump.

President Trump is famous (or infamous) for bestowing nicknames on people. It’s not the friendly, buddy-buddy style of nicknames used by former President George W. Bush. Instead they are meant to dismiss and degrade opponents.

Some of the president’s go-to nicknames include Crazy Bernie Sanders, Sleepy Joe Biden, and Liddle Adam Schiff. Then there are a few other examples with more offensive connotations that don’t need to be reprinted.

On Wednesday night, Jon Stewart reunited with friend and former colleague Stephen Colbert. They discussed the pandemic, the 2020 election, and Stewart’s movie Irresistible. Stewart closed out the interview by sharing his new nickname for President Trump, turning the tables on the Nicknamer-in-Chief.

Jon Stewart needs your help getting the nickname trending

Late night hosts like Stephen Colbert have never been amused by President Trump’s nicknames for his opponents. In fact, Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, and Jimmy Kimmel have been on the receiving end when the president has tried to rename his critics. Now Jon Stewart is helping to defend them and give President a dose of his own medicine.

“Drain the swamp” was a rallying cry during Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign. It hasn’t exactly come to fruition as the federal government is stacked with career politicians, Trump family members, and loyalists to the president.

Stewart’s idea is to turn this against President Trump as we head towards the 2020 election. This argument against the current administration is obvious and doesn’t need a catchy nickname but it certainly doesn’t hurt. And it has been well-documented that the president doesn’t take too kindly to insults so seeing #SwampyDon all over Twitter may get under his skin.

So if you’re a fan of Colbert or Stewart, then you can do you part to support them by getting this new nickname trending. A quick check of Twitter shows that you wouldn’t be alone.
