What should Real Time with Bill Maher fans expect from tonight’s episode?

Season 18 of Real Time with Bill Maher continues tonight. It comes after another week of protests and demonstrations across the country and throughout the world. Bill Maher will host a guest lineup tonight that should add to the conversation.

Late night television has been covering the protests and reaction to George Floyd’s death all week. Shows such as The Late Show with Stephen ColbertLate Night with Seth Meyers, and Jimmy Kimmel Live! have focused heavily on the response from President Donald Trump, criticizing his lack of empathy while escalating tension.

Shows like Conan and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon have covered the story from a different angle. Interviews with Van Jones, Derrick Johnson, and W. Kamau Bell have offered a different perspective while providing audiences with information on how to get involved in changing the status quo.

Real Time with Bill Maher should do all this and more tonight. Fans can expect Maher to have something to say about President Trump’s comments, tweets, and photo-op. His guests tonight will also ensure that a meaningful conversation takes place. Keep reading for a breakdown of tonight’s guest lineup.

Tonight’s Real Time with Bill Maher interviews

The first interview is with a frequent Real Time guest. Maher will go one-on-one with rapper and activist Michael Render, AKA Killer Mike.

Render is one half of the duo Run the Jewels. Their latest album Run the Jewels 4 was released on June 3 and has received incredible reviews from fans and critics.

Render recently made headlines for comments he made in Atlanta regarding the protests over George Floyd’s death. Shared millions of times across social media, Render delivered a powerful message. Real Time viewers can expect more of the same on tonight’s show.

Maher’s second virtual interview will be with a newcomer to Real Time. Frank Figliuzzi is scheduled to make his debut.

Figliuzzi is the former FBI Assistant Director for Counterintelligence, having been appointed by then-director Robert Mueller. He left the office in 2012 and currently he can be seen on NBC and MSNBC as a national security expert.

With Maher, Figliuzzi should weigh in on the protests, police brutality, and the approach from the federal government. Look for the two to discuss the White House zeroing in on Antifa and labeling the movement as a terrorist organization.

Tonight’s Real Time with Bill Maher panel

Tonight’s Real Time panel will consist of two guests. Both have appeared on Bill Maher’s show in the past.

Rosa Brooks is a Georgetown University Law Center professor and author of the forthcoming book Tangled Up in Blue: Policing the Nation’s Capital. Her previous book How Everything Became War and the Military Became Everything: Tales from the Pentagon examined the blurred lines between war and peace.

On Real Time, she could speak about the increased militarization of police forces throughout the U.S. She may also elaborate on the points she outlined in Washington Post column on President Trump using the Insurrection Act.

Joining Brooks on the panel will be Michael Steele. He served as Chair of the Republican National Committee from 2009 to 2011. Now he is a contributor to MSNBC and hosts “The Michael Steele Podcast.”

Steele was critical of Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign and that hasn’t changed. Steele will likely add his own perspective on the protests and how they’ve been handled by the Trump administration. He may also cite his experience as Maryland’s former lieutenant governor to discuss the relationship between the White House and states.
