Late night television shows are back this week with brand new episodes.

It is Monday, June 1. The start of a new week and a new month. It also means the start of a brand new week of shows for late night television. With just about every show returning this week, there will be no shortage of guests to watch.

Following the Memorial Day holiday, most late night television shows gave the week off to the hosts and staff. Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Daily Show with Trevor Noah were the two that provided new content during the week, with Real Time with Bill Maher and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver closing out the weekend.

Fans can be sure that Stephen Colbert and Seth Meyers will have a lot to say starting tonight. Between President Donald Trump’s tweets, pandemic updates, and riots and protests around the countryThe Late Show and Late Night will definitely want to weigh in on things.

Beyond getting a dose of comedy with the news, viewers will be treated to another solid week of guests. Keep reading for Last Night On’s picks for the five guests to watch.

Late night TV guests to watch: Lady Gaga

You can start your late night television week off with Lady Gaga. The singer/actress will be on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, June 1.

Gaga’s visit with Jimmy Fallon comes just a few days after she released Chromatica, her sixth studio album. Singles “Stupid Love” and “Rain on Me” have helped boost the album and critics have expressed near universal acclaim.

The singer has already collaborated with Fallon this year. Lady Gaga was a driving force behind the Together at Home charity concert for COVID-19 relief. The online event was co-hosted by Fallon along with Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel.

Fans can expect Gaga to talk about Chromatica, how the pandemic has impacted sharing music with fans, and her advocacy efforts.

Late night TV guests to watch: Lisa Kudrow

One of television’s most successful stars talks with one of late night’s most successful on Monday, June 1. Lisa Kudrow will check in with Conan O’Brien.

Kudrow is promoting her new Netflix comedy Space Force. It was co-created by its star Steve Carell and Greg Daniels, one of the individuals behind the American version of The Office. With Carell, Kudrow, John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, Jimmy O. Yang, and Tawny Newson, Space Force boasts one of the most talented casts around.

Kudrow and O’Brien have always had excellent chemistry. The actress is worth watching on any late night show but things always seem a little different on Conan. In addition to Space Force, Kudrow could provide an update on the Friends reunion special that was planned for HBO Max.

Late night TV guests to watch: Regina King

A multitalented and award-winning actress joins Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week. Catch Regina King on the show Wednesday, June 3.

King started in the massive hit Watchmen that aired on HBO at the end of last year. Her portrayal of Angela Abar/Sister Night was applauded by both fans and critics. Given how race relations and riots were woven into Watchmen‘s plot, it’s possible that King could comment on similarities to what is going on in the real world today. The show is coming to Blu-ray and DVD this week so it seems like the perfect time to revisit the themes of Watchmen.

King may also promote her directorial debut One Night in Miami. The drama is based on a play of the same name written by Kemp Powers. It is a fictional account of a 1964 meeting among Cassius Clay, Malcolm X, Sam Cooke, and Jim Brown to discuss social change in the segregated south. Again, the content is as relevant today as ever and King could further explain why she chose this project as a first-time director.

Late night TV guests to watch: Kristen Bell

The return of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert this week gets a boost from Kristen Bell. The actress is set to appear on Wednesday, June 3.

Bell’s voice is featured in the animated musical comedy series Central Park. From the co-creator of Bob’s Burgers, the show debuted on Apple TV+ on May 29. Bell is joined by an all-star cast that includes Tituss Burgess, Leslie Odom, Jr., Daveed Diggs, Josh Gad, Stanley Tucci, and Kathryn Hahn. It already holds a 93% approval rating from Rotten Tomatoes.

In addition to plugging Central Park, Bell also has a new book to promote. She is the co-author of the children’s book The World Needs More Purple People that encourages self-esteem, curiosity, and acceptance.

Bell has been vocal on social media in her support for the social justice demonstrations and protests around the company. This should be a major topic on The Late Show this week so fans may hear Bell and Stephen Colbert discuss it more during their interview.

Late night TV guests to watch: Anna Kendrick

One of Hollywood’s busiest stars makes time for late night television this week. Fans can see Anna Kendrick on The Late Late Show with James Corden on Thursday, June 4.

2020 has been a big year for Kendrick. Her animated film Trolls World Tour was well-received by critics but suffered a setback when the COVID-19 pandemic impacted its release. The movie was made available through on-demand services and became one of the most popular titles of all-time.

Kendrick also stars in Dummy, a television series that debuted on the streaming service Quibi in April. The comedy has positive reviews from audiences. The actress also has another television show streaming, this time on HBO Max. Love Life premiered on May 27 and critics noted that the show was elevated by Kendrick’s performance.

With all of that, Kendrick shouldn’t struggle to have something to discuss with James Corden. Corden has co-starred with Kendrick in Into the WoodsTrolls, and Trolls World Tour so the chat should flow easily.  If not, she can always give an update on her quarantine hobbies.
