Stephen Colbert

It’s hard to believe now but there was a time when Donald Trump was a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Neither man would agree to it now, given the public comments they’ve made about each other.

Night after night, The Late Show‘s monologue takes aim at President Trump, his administration, and just about every decision he makes. And thanks to the president’s tweets and remarks, Colbert knows that the man in the Oval Office is watching.

In 2017, Trump lashed out against Stephen Colbert. He suggested the CBS host was a “no-talent guy” with a “filthy mouth.” This came after Colbert found himself in hot water for a controversial joke about President Trump’s relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

President Trump followed those comments up in June 2018. He called out Colbert among other late night hosts. Referring to Colbert simply as “the guy on CBS,” President Trump called the comedian a “lowlife” and said he had “no talent.”

During the COVID-19 pandemic President Trump again found time to review The Late Show. He called the show “stupid” for its interview with Senator Chuck Schumer. The president then later tweeted about the show’s ratings, once again insisting that Colbert had “no talent.”
