The Late Late Show with James Corden will feature some of music’s biggest acts performing from home.

As late night television shows seek creative ways to work during #QuarantineLife, The Late Late Show with James Corden has just raised the bar. The show is calling on some of the most popular acts in music for a special at-home event.

The novel coronavirus outbreak has postponed, suspended, or canceled a number of events all around the world. This includes the production of television shows as well as concert tours that would have circled the globe.

James Corden and company have found a way to fill both of those voids in one night. On Monday, March 30 The Late Late Show with James Corden presents “HomeFest,” a concert series featuring artists performing from their homes.

The importance of music to The Late Late Show is undeniable and has influenced much of the program’s success. Segments like“Carpool Karaoke” and “Riff-Off” are fan favorites and Corden routinely hosts the biggest names in music for in-studio performances.

And now some of those same artists that helped make The Late Late Show popular are set to return for “HomeFest.” K-pop megastars BTS and sensation Billie Eilish stand out as headliners. Both acts have a history with Corden and will no doubt help attract attention to the event.

David Blaine and Will Ferrell are also advertised for the special, suggesting it won’t be just musical performances. Clearly there will be something for everyone on “HomeFest” as The Late Late Show finds a way to reach its audience. Even more impressive is that the special event will raise money for charity.

Corden is the latest late night host to come up with some way to produce content. Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon are doing mini-versions of their shows from home. Conan O’Brien is set to return to TBS on March 30 with episodes shot at his home.

Corden’s impressive lineup for “HomeFest” shows that he and the artists understand the unique circumstances facing the world. Social media keeps people more connected than ever but that isn’t enough to overcome the uneasiness and concern caused by social distancing and isolation. This concert event is one way of bringing people together safely to enjoy a night of music and comedy.
