BTS on Carpool Karaoke is coming soon: What to expect
By Matt Moore
BTS will finally make its Carpool Karaoke debut on an upcoming episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden.
Buckle up, BTS fans. It was only a matter of time but it is finally happening: BTS will appear in “Carpool Karaoke” for The Late Late Show with James Corden.
The BTS Army has been asking/suggesting/wishing/hoping for the band to make its “Carpool Karaoke” debut for years now. And once again, it is James Corden and The Late Late Show who are making that wish come true.
Previously, we’ve looked at how The Late Late Show has become the unofficial late night television home of BTS. The K-pop megastars have made multiple appearances, delivering a memorable performance of their single Black Swan and playing a few Late Late Show games.
But no appearance by a band or singer on The Late Late Show is complete without “Carpool Karaoke.” Corden has heard the fans and will give the people what they want on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
Corden has been rewarded in the past for giving BTS a platform. Following the band’s last visit, the Army raised money for a charity Corden supports and #ThankYouJamesCorden was trending all over Twitter. We should expect more of the same as the Army is sure to keep the good vibes going after “Carpool Karaoke.”
The “Carpool Karaoke” airing will come at a busy time for BTS and late night television. The night before, Feb. 24, is when The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon will air its BTS special episode.
For The Late Late Show with James Corden, it comes in the week following Justin Bieber’s takeover. The Changes singer will appear for three consecutive nights and will feature in another edition of “Carpool Karaoke.” It all adds up to a massive week for fans of pop music, “Carpool Karaoke,” and James Corden.
The BTS edition of “Carpool Karaoke” should immediately be in contention for the most watched in the segment’s history. Right now, that honor goes to Adele and her 211 million YouTube views since 2016. Bieber’s other appearance has earned 150 million views. By comparison, the clip of the K-pop band performing Black Swan has racked up an impressive 36 million views in just two weeks.
The Army is among the most passionate and active fanbases on social media so it should be no surprise that this will be landmark event. Late night television continues to get a bump from the band in win-win situations like this one with “Carpool Karaoke.”
