Seth Meyers took “A Closer Look” at President Donald Trump defending himself at another rally.

It was only a matter of time before President Donald Trump held another rally as he gets closer to being impeached. His latest event gave the President the chance to defend himself and it also gave Seth Meyers a chance to take a closer look at the President’s state of mind.

Following the announcement that two articles of impeachment have been drafted against President Trump, several reports have come out about his reaction. Most portray President Trump as angry, insulted, and furious with the media coverage.

The solution to such emotions has typically been to hold a rally. It gives President Trump to stand in front of a friendly crowd of supporters and gives him the freedom to say whatever is on his mind.

Such rallies have become a go-to source of comedy for “A Closer Look” on Late Night with Seth Meyers. And when President Trump continued to push a conspiracy theory already debunked by the Department of Justice, Seth Meyers had to respond.

If you’ve been consistently watching “A Closer Look” then you may have noticed that Seth Meyers has become a little more aggressive in his word choice. Here he starts off by using adjectives like “deranged” and referring to President Trump as a sexist, slurring lunatic.

Meyers knows just as well as anyone that President Trump cares more about his public image than anything. With that in mind, Meyers makes a point to remind viewers that Donald Trump’s impeachment will always be the first thing mentioned in discussing his presidency. Regardless of the outcome, it will forever be a stain that cannot be removed.

Still, President Trump tried his best to frame things as “impeachment light.” Once again this was a defense that Meyers had no problem shooting down. The Late Night host calls out President Trump as lying to his “group therapy session” in Pennsylvania to soothe his ego.

“A Closer Look” wraps up with Meyers once again discussing how detached President Trump seems from reality. The segment makes it clear that the President is far more worried about the optics and embarrassment of impeachment than he concerned about the legal consequences. This has been a common theme in “A Closer Look” and why Meyers can so easily mock President Trump.

We haven’t seen the last of President Donald Trump’s rallies of course. The closer he gets to impeachment, the more he will ramp up his defense. And that only means that Late Night with Seth Meyers will have another edition of “A Closer Look” for fans.
