Is Last Week Tonight with John Oliver new tonight, Sept. 1?
By Matt Moore
With Labor Day tomorrow, will Last Week Tonight with John Oliver take the night off or be back with a new episode?
Hopefully you are enjoying a long weekend as Labor Day is on the calendar for Monday. For late night fans, the best way to enjoy any weekend is to watch Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
Any show airing during the summer months is likely to take some time off at one point or another. We have seen it time and time again in late night as shows have taken vacations several times since May.
The calendar has switched over to Sept. and that can usually mean the end of vacations and prolonged breaks. But the Labor Day holiday throws one final wrench into things. So while most of late night will be back with new episodes this week, they will still be off on Monday.
HBO’s late night team of Real Time with Bill Maher and Last Week Tonight with Bill Maher have always maintained a different schedule than network and cable shows. Typically, the Real Time nights off have been a pretty good indicator of what to expect from Last Week Tonight.
If you are a regular viewer of Bill Maher’s then you know what is coming: there will not be a new episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver tonight.
John Oliver is scheduled to return next Sunday, Sept. 8. In the meantime, you can check out these links to get your fill of Last Week Tonight:

When Last Week Tonight with John Oliver returns with a new episode on HBO next week, it will kick off a stretch of at least four consecutive weeks with new shows. That is certainly welcomed news for late night fans, especially those who aren’t so excited to see the summer season come to an end.
