Saturday Night Live is showing off why the show received so many Emmy Award nominations.

It has been months since season 44 of Saturday Night Live ended. A string of Emmy Award nominations has led the show to remind everyone of the hilarious performances by the cast and hosts.

Season 44 had its ups and downs like any other season of Saturday Night Live. The show looked to have a balance between its political content and sketches that featured original ideas and characters. While there were a number of cameos and surprise guests, it was the entire cast that elevated the show week in and week out.

Once again leading the cast was Kate McKinnon. McKinnon has been a standout performer since she joined the show in 2012. There is a reason that McKinnon has been nominated for seven Emmy Awards and twice has won for Outstanding Supporting Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

To celebrate another Emmy nomination for McKinnon, Saturday Night Live put together a video packaging showcasing her highlights from season 44. Check out her work below:

McKinnon is a good representation of what Saturday Night Live tried to accomplish this season. She was a solid performer in political sketches, portraying people like Elizabeth Warren and Rudy Giuliani. When the show tried to get a little more creative, McKinnon was front and center to play key characters is sketches like “Teacher Fell Down.”

McKinnon wasn’t the only actor who received a nomination for her Saturday Night Live work. Several hosts were recognized for their contributions. Adam Sandler, John Mulaney, Matt Damon, Sandra Oh, and Emma Thompson all got nods for Outstanding Guest Actor/Actress in a Comedy Series. Robert De Niro was also given a nomination for his recurring role as Robert Mueller.

While the fact that De Niro was even submitted for consideration, never mind nominated, is a bit of a head-scratcher, the other nominations are all well deserved. Saturday Night Live also put together a video celebrating Damon, Sandler, Mulaney, and De Niro.

Matt Damon is certainly a front-runner in this group thanks to his opening cameo as Brett Kavanaugh in the season premiere episode as well as his turn as a host for the Christmas episode. John Mulaney has also proved why he is an SNL legend and why he has hosted in back-to-back years. And Adam Sandler gets even more proof of why he shouldn’t have waited 25 years to return to the SNL spotlight.
