Tracy Morgan talks earthquake survival and prison graduations with Jimmy Kimmel
By Matt Moore
Once again, Tracy Morgan proved that he is one of the best guests in all of late night television.
The summer can be a very busy time of year for a lot of people. But chances are that no one is having a summer quite as eventful as the one Tracy Morgan is having.
The former Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock star has been preparing to host the ESPY awards on Wednesday night. This comes on the heels of his sitcom The Last O.G. finishing its second season and being renewed for a third.
With all that going on in his career, it is Morgan’s personal life that sounds the most hectic. Morgan’s life is always a popular topic when he visits Jimmy Kimmel Live!. It’s why Last Night On picked his appearance as one to watch this week.
Morgan did not disappoint. He covered everything from his experience with the California earthquake, his time as a crack dealer, and his plan to have 10 kids.
The earthquakes in California were a big story in the news with a lot of footage coming out about their impact. That always leads to reminders about what to do during an earthquake to stay safe. It’s hard to imagine that Morgan’s plan of carrying an extra pair of underwear will be incorporated into any official safety guidelines.
Fans of Tracy Morgan are no doubt familiar with some of the material he used on Jimmy Kimmel. His joke about seeing a crackhead trying to sell a fire escape has been used before but that doesn’t mean it isn’t any less ridiculous or funny. The same goes for Morgan’s claim that he was a crack dealer with a heart of gold.
Getting caught in an earthquake and setting off a fireworks display would more than qualify for an eventful summer. But those don’t quite compare to Morgan attending his uncle’s graduation ceremony at a prison. No other late night guest could tell a story like that one and certainly no one could deliver it the way that Morgan did.
All the proof you need for Morgan being one of the best guests around is the reaction from Jimmy Kimmel. No matter how many times he tried to get the conversation back on track, Morgan pulled it back to talk about whatever he wanted. Kimmel wisely let it happen and ended up laughing just as hard as anyone watching.
You can watch Tracy Morgan host the ESPYs on Wednesday July 10 on ABC. Just like his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, it will be a must see event.
