Revisit the beginning of Saturday Night Live with these vintage sketches that became classics.

While summer is the favorite season for so many people, it can be a difficult time for Saturday Night Live fans. Without new episodes, there is no “Weekend Update,” no cold opens, no sketches featuring their favorite characters. But there is some good news courtesy of the show’s YouTube channel.

Earlier this month Saturday Night Live announced that it was opening its vault of sketches. Every Saturday until season 45 begins, 10 sketches will be made available on the show’s official YouTube channel. It was welcomed news for so many fans who have spent years trying to dig up high quality videos of some of the best sketches in the show’s history.

It looks as if the sketches will be released in chronological order. The first batch went live this past Saturday and included content from the first two seasons of Saturday Night Live. Those seasons aired between 1975 and 1977.

The show debuted to both positive reviews and negative reviews. Hearing any negative responses to the early years can be hard to believe knowing what we know now about casts that included Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, Gilda Radner, Bill Murray, and John Belushi.

But those types of reactions to the show have always been there for Saturday Night Live. Any fan will argue in favor or against whatever season is airing or whatever cast is carrying the show. Regardless of your opinion, the fact that SNL has been going for 44 seasons is still very impressive.

So with that being said, here are three throwback, vintage, old school Saturday Night Live sketches to help you through your Thursday. You can watch more on the show’s YouTube channel.
