Sophie Turner’s demonstration of her favorite drinking game took Conan O’Brien by surprise.

Conan O’Brien has been hosting a late night show for 25 years. He’s pretty much seen it all at this point. But when Sophie Turner visited the show on Wednesday night, the guest definitely delivered something that O’Brien did not see coming.

Turner has had a busy few weeks promoting her movie Dark Phoenix. Much of her time has been spent on late night. First she was in the UK visiting The Graham Norton Show where she discussed her wedding to Joe Jonas and the time she helped him with his Sansa Stark costume. Then on Tuesday she was on Jimmy Kimmel Live! with her the rest of the Dark Phoenix cast to reveal her odd fear of drains.

So with the movie hitting theaters on Friday, it is understandable that Turner was ready to relax with a drink by the time she stopped in to Conan on Wednesday. The only problem is that she prefers a little bit of violence with her tequila:

Again, it is rare that Conan O’Brien is genuinely shocked by anything a guest does on the show. Bits and stories are typically reviewed ahead of time so he knows what is coming. But there is no denying that he was taken completely off guard by Sophie Turner’s slap.

Being the professional and late night icon that he is, O’Brien knew exactly how to play the reaction. He even knew just the right camera to focus on to deliver one of his signature blank stares.

The audience didn’t sound too familiar with the game of tequila slaps so it is possible that Turner and her Dark Phoenix stumbled upon a unique way to take a shot. With costars like Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, and Michael Fassbender it was probably an entertaining way to pass time during their downtime.

As surprised as he was, O’Brien took the slap pretty well. However, that shouldn’t surprise longtime Conan fans. He’s been preparing for a moment like this for years.

It’s hard to say if “tequila shots” will take over the country and be the official drinking game of the summer. On the other hand, it could be a nice way for fans to dull the pain of Sophie Turner leaving behind both Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones and Jean Grey in Dark Phoenix.
