On Jimmy Kimmel Live! the cast of Dark Phoenix revealed their strange and specific fears.
It’s one thing to play a fearless superhero or super villain in a blockbuster film like Dark Phoenix but it’s a very different thing out in the real world. That was the takeaway from Tuesday night’s special edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
As we pointed out, Jimmy Kimmel Live! has become the late night home for superheroes . Whether it is Spider-Man, the Avengers, or the X-Men, Jimmy Kimmel sits down with the stars of some of the biggest movies around. The interviews are often a fun way to see how the actors and actresses are similar or different to their characters.
If the cast of Dark Phoenix were really comic book characters then they would have some truly bizarre weaknesses. Kryptonite and Infinity Stones are nothing compared to things that could take down Sophie Turner, Jennifer Lawrence, or James McAvoy.
By now, Kimmel is something of an expert at interviewing several guests at once like this. He knows how to ask the right questions to get everyone involved while also being aware that most fans are tuning in to see the biggest names on the couch.
One way he does this is by playing little mini-games like this one. The “fear” bit worked out much better than Kimmel could have imagined based on these answers that seem to come out of left field. Let’s recap those answers from the Dark Phoenix stars:
- Tye Sheridan: Stranded in the Pacific Ocean
- Jennifer Lawrence: Being quiet
- Jessica Chastain: Snakes
- Nicholas Hoult: Not getting enough food at a group dinner
- Sophie Turner: Walking over drains
- Michael Fassbender: Deportation/armadillos
- James McAvoy: Demonic possession
Jessica Chastain’s answer is the only normal answer out of the seven. An argument could be made for demonic possession but James McAvoy seems to have a very specific vision of what that entails.
If Nicholas Hoult’s only fear is not getting enough food then maybe Warner Bros. made a mistake not casting him as Batman. Sophie Turner’s answer sounds more like a superstition than fear and surely millions of fans hope Jennifer Lawrence’s greatest fear never comes true.
Do you share any fears with the cast of Dark Phoenix? The movie hits theaters on June 7 and brings an end to the X-Men film franchise as we’ve come to know it. That itself could be a scary thought for fans.
