Should Saturday Night Live fans expect to see a new episode tonight?

When the calendar turns over to May, Saturday Night Live fans know what that means. The season is drawing to an end.

Fans also know that it has been difficult to predict exactly when they’ll get a new episode. The show takes breaks around the holidays like everyone else but there are also off weeks that can surprise fans. Even President Donald Trump can’t tell when a rerun is coming on.

So knowing that season 44 is coming to an end, is this the week we get a new episode? The answer is yes.

It is bittersweet news however. Tonight’s new episode of Saturday Night Live is also the season finale. That means that after tonight it will be a long, long time before fans see anything new from SNL.

Paul Rudd is the host and DJ Khaled is the musical guest. You can read our episode preview here.

Expect tonight’s show to be the best of the season. Rudd is always a fantastic host. DJ Khaled is bringing a lot of friends. And the season finale always has surprises planned along with cameos from big stars.

As we point out in the episode preview, there is a good chance that some former Saturday Night Live stars stop by tonight. Bill Hader, Fred Armisen, and Jason Sudeikis are all possibilities. If the show really wants to make a splash, some of Rudd’s Avengers: Endgame costars will pop up as well.

There is also the potential that tonight’s episode will be the final appearance for some cast members. We know that Kenan Thompson isn’t going anywhere but things may not be as definitive for others like Cecily Strong or Kyle Mooney.
