Comedian Bill Burr proved once again he is the best guest on Conan.

A big part of parenting is making mistakes and learning from those mistakes. For comedian Bill Burr, that also includes making some of the same mistake his parents made even if he’s not so sure they were mistakes after all.

In addition to being one of the most popular comedians in the world and a successful podcast host, Bill Burr is also the best guest on Conan going right now. Every interview between Burr and Conan O’Brien is a must watch. Lucky for us fans, Burr was even an early guest of the “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” podcast.

Watch Burr’s interviews on Conan and you’ll see how Burr keeps the same perspective on life even as his life goes through some major changes. One of those changes was the birth of his daughter. Burr hasn’t been shy about discussing parenting in the past and now with a child of his own, it’s opened up a whole new set of experience for the comedian to discuss.

So when Burr saw a poster for the movie Dumbo he thought it would be a nice way to spend an afternoon with his two-year-old daughter. But that was Burr’s first mistake:

We can’t fault Burr for thinking that Dumbo would be a nice kid-friendly Disney movie. But what he didn’t know was that it’s a Tim Burton directed movie that isn’t exactly geared towards younger audiences. Maybe the old Bill Burr would have stuck it out based on principle after buying tickets and popcorn. But Bill Burr the father made the wise choice to get out of there.

Burr also managed to give a little bit of his philosophy on parenting. His mother may have taken him to see Stripes and Scarface at a young age but that doesn’t mean he has an excuse to be messed up. According to Burr, it’s parents that determine whether or not a kid is screwed up not what movies or video games they see.

Still, like any good Burr story on Conan this one included a hint of the comedian’s anger coming out and an insult towards a stranger for good measure. There was a chance that the other guy in the theater was going to get the same treatment an unruly Dodgers fan got from Burr during the World Series. Fortunately for the stranger, Burr was more concerned with his daughter than confrontation.

If you’re a parent and you were considering taking your kid to see Dumbo then use Bill Burr as a fair warning. Burr’s interviews with Conan O’Brien remain one of the best things in all of late night and something no one should ever skip out on early.
