2. Lupita Nyong’o

2019 will be another big year for one of the most talented movie stars in the industry. Lupita Nyong’o, who won an Oscar for her role in 12 Years a Slave, will be featured in two of the most anticipated films of the year.

First up is Us directed by Jordan Peele. The movie is Peele’s follow-up to Get Out for which he won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. Us will hit theaters on March 15 which would be a perfect window for Nyong’o to promote the film via hosting Saturday Night Live.

In December Nyong’o will also be featured in the untitled Star Wars Episode IX reprising her role as Maz Kanata. That will surely rival Avengers: End Game as the biggest movie of 2019. Coincidently, Nyong’o is connected to both films as she portrayed Nakia in Black Panther. At this point, it doesn’t look like she pops up in the next Avengers but you never know with Marvel.

So it’s clear that Lupita Nyong’o has plenty of reason to host Saturday Night Live. She also has the talent to pull it off. While she doesn’t have any outright comedy experience on her resume, watch any interview with her and it’s clear she has the charm and personality that can translate to any genre. Add in her Broadway experience and it becomes a no-brainer for Nyong’o to host in 2019.
