Fortnite prank turns out to be one of Jimmy Kimmel’s best

The master of pranks in late night Jimmy Kimmel issued another YouTube Challenge aimed at Fortnite players and it didn’t disappoint.
Fans of Jimmy Kimmel’s pranks got an early Christmas this week. If you thought that Kimmel’s annual Halloween candy gag would be his last of the year, he decided to have a little more fun. This time it was at the expense of Fortnite players.
Kimmel announced the YouTube Challenge earlier in this week. The idea behind the prank was to turn off the television when a Fortnite player was at a crucial moment in the popular video game. Anyone who has played video games long enough knows this is a classic move whether you wanted to annoy a sibling, roommate or friend.
As it turned out, Fortnite players take the game very, very seriously. It’s probably why the game’s fans ranked so high on the Fandom 250 list. And just as Last Night On predicted, there was a lot more cursing and violence than we typically see in a Kimmel prank video. This wasn’t your Halloween candy joke. Nope, it was a little more intense which made it all the more enjoyable to watch.
It’s not surprising to see these reactions given the nature of the winner-take-all concept of Fortnite. What is surprising is how quickly a lot of these kids went to swinging on whoever was behind the camera. This wasn’t the same as little kids crying over missing candy.
Getting past that, it was a very funny clip and one of Kimmel’s better pranks outside of the Halloween challenge. While pranks on his family member or celebrity friends are always nice to see, it’s better when Kimmel gets the viewers at home involved. Case in point are the Father’s Day videos Kimmel has called for in years past.
With Christmas right around the corner, you’d think some of these kids would be on their best behavior. Swearing and swinging at their parents isn’t exactly model behavior especially at this time of year. But that just goes to show the dedication they have to Fortnite. Jimmy Kimmel certainly knew that and it paid off.
