The latest prank from Jimmy Kimmel will take aim at those playing Fortnite, the most popular video game of the year.

One of the biggest phenomenons in the video game world this year has been Fortnite. The game is everywhere and has certainly made its mark in pop culture and not just among video game fanatics. It’s become so big that it now has the attention of Jimmy Kimmel, which can be a good or bad thing depending on your perspective.

Jimmy Kimmel has always enjoyed a good prank. He’s done it to friends, family, and the entire country countless times during the run of his show Jimmy Kimmel Live! It has reached the point where if anything strange is happening or going viral, people immediately ask if Kimmel is behind it.

So now Kimmel has set his sights on the gigantic world of Fortnite and all its fans that earned the game one of the best fandoms in the world. Similar to his Halloween candy pranks, Kimmel wants people to upload the reaction of Fortnite players on the receiving end of his latest prank.

This has the potential to get bad if not dangerous in a hurry. It’s one thing if you’re pranking little kids about candy. They usually can barely understand what is going on. But trying to ruin a Fortnite player’s game? Expect videos to feature a lot more cursing and a lot more controllers being thrown at whoever is behind the camera.

This is a game with over 200 million registered users worldwide. So Kimmel is casting a pretty wide net here in terms of who is about to be pranked. As unpredictable as some of the reactions may be, the prank could also serve as the perfect solution for some exasperated parents or significant others who have lost someone to Fortnite addiction.

Just imagine a Fortnite player coming a crucial moment in the game only to have the television cut out and have no idea what happened. That pain may only be outweighed by the satisfaction of going viral on Jimmy Kimmel Live! days later. Who knows? Maybe Kimmel will start a new streaming trend for Fortnite gamers. But more likely he’ll have a lot of angry players flooding his YouTube comment section. Either way, Kimmel will consider it a win.
