Is Real Time with Bill Maher new tonight, Dec. 7?

There is no rest in the world of politics and culture. There is no offseason, no “slow time” when things are calm and quiet. Even if holidays and vacations are coming up that doesn’t mean that headlines go down. It’s what has made Real Time with Bill Maher a consistent hit for so many years.
The first week of December was no different. The biggest headlines included Robert Mueller’s sentencing memo for Michael Flynn with more details on Paul Manafort expected Friday. Former President George H.W. Bush passed away and Donald Trump was looking for credit by acting so civilized. So per usual, plenty to talk about for late night hosts like Bill Maher.
However, just because the news never takes a break doesn’t mean that those commenting on it can’t either. Just imagine how exhausting it must be to keep up with the news every week and then have a week of material ready to go every Friday night.
It shows just how impressive those who do it four or five times a week really are. Hosts like Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert, and James Corden go out night after night and come up with fresh material.
That’s not to say weekly programs like The Graham Norton Show, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, or Saturday Night Live are any less impressive. There is a reason that Saturday Night Live continues to have a strong following, after all. A strong fanbase has also kept Real Time with Bill Maher going on HBO for 16 seasons.
So with that in mind, we can cut Maher some slack for taking the month of December off. No, there is no new episode of Real Time tonight. The show wrapped up it’s 16th season a couple weeks back and will be off until January.
