Jimmy Kimmel and John Krasinski’s prank war gets personal
By Matt Moore
John Krasinski reignited his long running prank battle with Jimmy Kimmel by surprising the host during his visit to Brooklyn.
It always makes for a more entertaining interview if a late night host is friends with the guest. In the case of Jimmy Kimmel and John Krasinski things are even more familiar between the two. Not only are the A Quiet Place actor and Jimmy Kimmel Live! host friends, but they were formerly neighbors in Los Angeles.
So with that closeness comes an ease when the two get together. There are plenty of real life stories and time spent together they can raw from beyond just promoting Krasinski’s projects. That also means viewers get a front row view of the most entertaining aspect of their friendship: pranks.
Kimmel is no stranger to pranks. He made headlines in 2013 for his “Twerking Fail” hoax that went viral. And of course we are getting close to his annual Halloween prank in which he invites parents to ruin the holiday for their children by claiming to eat all their candy.
John Krasinski has his own association with pranks due to his famous role as Jim Halpert on The Office. Pranks were a central part of his character and provided some of the most memorable scenes in the show’s history. But that fiction has become reality thanks to his years-long prank war with Kimmel. And last night while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Krasinski raised the bar:
After a brief recap of their ongoing feud, which has involved J Krasinski’s wife Emily Blunt and Kimmel’s wife Molly McNearny, we find out that Krasinski came prepared. It may be a little early for Christmas directions but it made for an element of surprise as Kimmel’s rental house was revealed to everyone watching. The prank is reminiscent of a previous prank in which Kimmel posted Krasinski’s address across Los Angeles advertising a yard sale.
All things consdiered, it was too bad of a prank. Things could have been worse for the man who gave us “Mean Tweets” celebrating just how nasty people can be. Jimmy Kimmel Live! is only filming in Brooklyn through the end of the week, so even if Kimmel has some uninvited guests he won’t be around for long.
