Here’s the Real Time With Bill Maher lineup for Oct. 5
By Matt Moore
The 16th season of Real Time With Bill Maher continues with an all new episode tonight, Oct. 5, on HBO.
It’s been a busy week to say the least. That means there is a lot to get to tonight on Real Time With Bill Maher. The biggest news has of course been the circus around Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination. It’s been a popular topic for all late night hosts and Maher is sure to give his unique perspective on the topic tonight. Let’s take a look at who will be appearing as guests on Real Time.
Doris Kearns Goodwin
The top-of-the-show interview guest will be historian and political commentator Doris Kerans Goodwin. She has written notable biographies on U.S. presidents including William Taft, Lyndon Johnson, and Theodore Roosevelt. The latest release from the Pulitzer Prize-winning author is Leadership: In Turbulent Times. An examination on the development in leadership among presidents including Lincoln and Roosevelt, the book seems appropriate for today’s political climate. Expect Maher to draw parallels between the divisiveness and challenges faced by past presidents and the environment surrounding President Donald Trump.
Jeff Bridges
The midshow interview will feature actor Jeff Bridges. His new film Bad Times at the El Royale is scheduled for release on Oct. 12. Bridges has already been making the rounds on late night shows, appearing on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and The Late Late Show With James Corden in recent weeks.
David Jolly, Soledad O’Brien, Andrew Sullivan
The roundtable will feature three returning guests: former Florida Representative David Jolly, journalist Soledad O’Brien, and author Andrew Sullivan.
A Republican, Jolly was a member of Congress from 2014-2017 and has been and outspoken critic of Trump. His last appearance on Real Time came in June 2017.
In addition to her correspondent role on HBO’s Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel , O’Brien anchors the syndicated political talk show Matter of Fact With Soledad O’Brien. Maher will welcome her back for the first time since August 2012.
Andrew Sullivan will be making his 21st appearance on the show. He is a pioneer of political blogging and has gone on to write and edit several books before focusing more on television appearances.
Real Time With Bill Maher can be seen on HBO tonight, Oct. 5. at 10:00 PM EST. Season 16 will continue with more new episodes through the month of November. An anniversary special celebrating Maher’s time on HBO is scheduled for Oct. 19. Keep checking back with Last Night On for more info.
