The Late Show With Stephen Colbert

Stephen Colbert opened up The Late Show with a prerecorded bit imagining everything Trump may think to broadcast through the emergency system. Typical of Colbert’s take on the president, most referenced Trump’s incompetence. And once again, Eric Trump found himself as the butt of a joke keeping in trend with Trump’s circle getting caught up in the gags.

Colbert wasn’t done there. He revisited the topic during his monologue and offered a way to opt out of the system:

Colbert has probably been the biggest critic of Trump on late night so it’s fitting that he spent the most time going after the alert system. Again we have mock messages inspired by his ramblings on camera and his tone on Twitter. Despite Colbert’s advice, the way we all depend on our phones may supersede eliminating a direct line of communication from Donald Trump.

The Late Late Show With James Corden

James Corden didn’t spend too much of his monologue on the text message. However, he did continue the theme of Trump misusing the system, portraying the president as attempting to text a fast food order. So once again, we have Trump’s apparent love of junk food being used as a punchilne.

Where Corden differs from his competition is bringing Vice President Mike Pence into the mix. Rather than take a shot at Melania or Eric Trump, Corden chooses Pence as his target. It’s not a stretch to imagine the vice president’s unwavering loyalty to the President extending to food pickups. It may feel like Pence doesn’t much flack, but he certainly has been the focus of rants by hosts like John Oliver and Samantha Bee.
