It’s another weekend over, and we’ve come to Sunday night. This is the day John Oliver fans hope for a new episode to premiere on HBO. So will there be an all new episode premiering tonight, or is Oliver on a hiatus?

Let’s get right to it! I’ve got some good news and some bad news. First, the good news is that yes, there is an all new episode on tonight. So be sure to tune in tonight to watch the new episode, because chances are Oliver is going to make it a can’t miss show (like every episode, really).

However, the unfortunate news is he won’t be on for a few weeks after tonight. Oliver goes on another hiatus, and his next new episode of the show won’t air until Sep. 9. So it’s good to know that the current season isn’t over just yet, and we will have at least a little bit more Oliver commentary to go before he takes his next break.

Last year, HBO gave Last Week Tonight a renewal through 2020. Of course, that means we’ll have many years worth of new episodes for the show. It’s a comfort to take as we start winding down towards the final episode of the current season. Certainly, if Oliver ends up winning the Emmy again this year like he did last year, it would definitely be well deserved.
