Jimmy Fallon as Donald Trump launches Trump News Network
By Jeremy Dick
On The Tonight Show, host Jimmy Fallon donned the blonde wig to become Donald Trump for a new sketch where the president launches the Trump News Network.
If every news station is just all “fake news,” then why won’t Donald Trump just start his own?
That’s the concept behind the newest Tonight Show sketch from Jimmy Fallon. In the new skit, Fallon dresses up as the president himself, complete with the trademark suit and blonde hairpiece. Of course, Fallon has portrayed Trump several times in the past on the show, but this time, Fallon’s Trump is announcing he’s starting his own news network: the Trump News Network, or TNN. According to Fallon, “It’s the only network that tells the truth and nothing but the truth, so help me Vlad!”
Calling the news on TNN 112% factual, Fallon’s Trump swears it’s the only believable source for your news. “The only way to ensure the news you’re watching is not fake is if I’m the one delivering it,” he says on the show. You can watch the segment in full in the YouTube video below.
Of course, the idea for this skit comes directly from the fact that even Fox News correspondents have been criticizing Trump after his Helsinki meeting with Putin. With even his beloved Fox now making the “fake news” list, where else is there left for Trump to go? Fallon doesn’t typically get as political as his fellow late night comedians, but perhaps after the president insulted him personally a few weeks back, the Tonight Show host is more open to sending some shots back.
