Jimmy Kimmel has trouble getting people to name any country
By Jeremy Dick
Jimmy Kimmel Live took to the streets with a map to see if anyone could point out any country in the entire world, and it didn’t turn out very well.
This would be funnier if it wasn’t so sad…
Over the past several days, President Donald Trump has been making the rounds overseas. In a trip to Europe, Trump made various stops in places like Scotland and Finland. As Jimmy Kimmel says, it’s necessary for people to understand the importance of foreign relations. But how much do people really know about other countries? Can they even point them out on a map?
Last week on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Kimmel had his team take to the streets to test their knowledge on world geography. Pedestrians would be shown a map of the world, and then be asked to name any country on it – any country in the whole world. But while you think most people would at least be able to point out one country on the map, it’s surprising and sad how little of them seem to be able to.
“It’s been a while since I’ve been in school,” one man says after he’s unable to accurately name a country. “Shouldn’t I be taught this in school?” asks another person. Indeed, they do teach this in school, at least they did for most of us. There are a few people who point out Africa accurately, although that’s a continent. When it comes to naming countries, those people are unable to do so.
