On the latest Real Time, Bill Maher spoke about Donald Trump flip-flopping on his family separation policy as well as Melania’s fashionable jacket.

Without a doubt, the biggest story in recent headlines concerns the treatment of immigrant families at the Mexican border. A government policy had been calling for all children to be separated from their parents, placed into cages in detention centers. Though he helped enact this zero tolerance policy himself, Donald Trump would then sign an order to end family separation… and then act like he was doing a good thing!

On last night’s Real Time, host Bill Maher couldn’t wait to point out this hypocrisy. First, he says it’s nice to know that there actually is a line many Republicans won’t cross when it comes to blindly following Trump: “Kidnapping children.” And what makes it even worse is considering all the lies Trump has told about the situation just this week.

At the start, as Maher explains, Trump was adamant that only he could fix it. Then, he said only Congress could fix it. After that, there he was signing an executive order, fixing it. “He signed an executive order that revoked the policy that he started,” Maher explains, baffled. Maher compares the president to an arsonist fireman, or someone who congratulates himself for saving a child from a swimming pool that he pushed in.

Also in the monologue, Maher brings up the jacket Melania Trump wore to a detention center brandishing the phrase, “I really don’t care, do u?” Of course, this fashion choice has gotten Melania a lot of flak, but Maher jokingly comes to her defense. “In fairness, come on… when has Melania ever known what’s going on behind her back?” Maher asks.

Maher is harsh and sometimes vulgar, but he means what he says and you can’t say he’s wrong. For more, be sure to tune in when Real Time with Bill Maher airs Fridays at 10 PM on HBO.
