Thing are going from bad to worse for former Donald Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, as Stephen Colbert revealed with an update on the story on The Late Show.

It seemed like things couldn’t get worse for Michael Cohen. Until…

Last night on The Late Show, host Stephen Colbert dove into a quick segment he’s calling the Cohen Corner. The idea is Colbert will provide updates on what’s going on with Cohen since being replaced as Trump’s lawyer. Already in hot water of the investigation involving Stormy Daniels, Colbert reveals that even more bad news has fallen into the lawyer’s lap.

Apparently, Cohen was partners with Evgeny A. Friedman with a taxi cab business. called the Taxi King. Cohen managed cabs for Friedman, despite being barred to do so. And now there are charges against Cohen for allegedly pocketed a 50-cent surcharge from money meant to improve the subway system. “There’s only two possible punishments for that,” Colbert jokes. “Either he has to go to jail for life, or he has to ride the subway.”

With five charges stacked against him, Cohen is looking at a maximum sentence of 125 years in prison. By default, this could end up spelling terrible news for the White House as well. Friedman has agreed to cooperate fully in this investigation, putting more pressure on Cohen himself. With more on the table for investigators to bargain with, Cohen may finally flip on Donald Trump to work out a deal for a lighter sentence.
