Stephen Colbert pokes fun at ‘leaker in chief’ Donald Trump
By Jeremy Dick
President Donald Trump is so upset about the White House leaks that he’s been coined the nickname ‘leaker in chief,’ and Stephen Colbert is very amused.
Perhaps that’s an appropriate nickname…
Last night on The Late Show, host Stephen Colbert spoke about the constant leaks coming out of the White House. These same leakers are continuing to reveal more information, such as the way Trump is trying to crack down on the problem. This includes having aides submit their cell phones into storage lockers when they come in, leading Colbert to question why only Donald Trump is allowed to have a cell phone. “That’s like saying, ‘no one can bring knives to work, except you O.J.'” Colbert cracks.
The Late Show host goes on to reveal that some White House aides have given Trump the nickname of the “leaker in chief.” If you started thinking that a joke has already written itself in this situation, you’re not the only one. Colbert fights the temptation to go for the joke, and although he nearly avoids it, he caves and cracks the obvious joke against Trump. “More like ‘leaker on sheets’!” he screams, cursing Satan for the sin.
Colbert goes on to explain how Trump’s eccentricity is nothing recent, as revealed by SNL star Pete Davidson in a recent interview. Back in 2015, Trump hosted the program, and Davidson spoke about how awkward the future president’s time was on the show. This includes allegedly taking a phone call during a meeting, even though it was clear to everyone else the phone didn’t actually ring.

We’ll see how much Trump’s efforts can halt the leaks coming out of the White House. But whenever new information does come out, Colbert will always be there to joke about it. Catch him when The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. EST on CBS.
