Conan O’Brien will see his Conan series on TBS have its timeslot reduced by half beginning in 2019, with each new episode being shortened to 30 minutes.

We’re not going to see quite as much Conan O’Brien on our television sets beginning next year…

As reported by VarietyConan on TBS is going to be changing its format starting in 2019. Currently featuring hour-long episodes, the program will change into a half-hour format once the switch is made. This condensed version of the series may be a bit of a disappointment to big fans, though it’s certainly better than saying goodbye to the show entirely.

This decision comes from O’Brien himself for a variety of reasons. Going with the leaner program will let O’Brien focus more on comedy segments, without having to worry about multiple celebrity interviews. The late night funnyman also has other comedy ventures he wants to put some time into, and will be using his newfound free time to do just that.

O’Brien adds that this is not going to be like a whole new program, and there won’t be any radical changes. There’s just going to be less time per episode. Still, for fans of the comedian, it’s going to be a treat to see what else he has in store for us, outside of what he can tell on a late night talk show.
