Jimmy Kimmel celebrates son Billy’s first birthday on Instagram

Jimmy Kimmel took to his official Instagram account to share a touching photo of his son Billy enjoying a family celebration of the boy’s first birthday.
Last year, late night funnyman Jimmy Kimmel spoke to his viewers about the serious condition of his then-newborn son Billy’s health. Billy was born with a rare heart condition known as tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia. At just three days old, the baby had to undergo open heart surgery; a second was performed seven months later.
Fortunately, Billy is okay, but the ordeal has obviously been tough for the Kimmel family. Grateful for everyone on the medical team who helped save Billy’s life, Kimmel can’t imagine what it’s like for the poor American families out there without healthcare who couldn’t afford such procedures. It has since made Kimmel even more vocal about fighting for every American to have healthcare and not have to ever worry about how to pay for something that is certainly heartbreaking enough.
One year past Billy’s birth, the boy is doing very well. As of April 21, little Billy — who’s the spitting image of his funny father — is all smiles in a new Instagram post shared by Jimmy. The touching photo shows Billy enjoying a birthday dessert while wearing a cute party hat. In addition to the photo, Jimmy urges fans to help with Billy a happy birthday by registering to vote.
