Stephen Colbert weighs in on Donald Trump vs. Kim Jong-Un
By Jeremy Dick
In his new monologue for last night’s Late Show, Stephen Colbert checked in on the ongoing feud between Donald Trump and North Korea’s Kim Jong-Un.
What’s the deal with Donald Trump and Kim Jong-Un? It’s too hard to tell…
Last night on The Late Show, host Stephen Colbert gave viewers the latest update on this feud. In a bit of surprising news, Kim Jong-Un is now open to the idea of giving up his nuclear arsenal to the United States. While nothing is set in stone, the Korean leader is supposedly willing to speak with the United States to discuss denuclearization as well as normalize the relationship between the two countries. For what it’s worth, Colbert would like to see the two start getting along, so they can talk about the things they have in common — “military parades and ridiculous haircuts.”
Of course, as Colbert points out, Trump went on Twitter to let everyone know where he stands on this. In a tweet, Trump acts fairly optimistic about moving forward, but notes that he’s ready to “go hard in either direction” depending on what happens with North Korea. And that kind of threat just seems amusing to Colbert. How can you go “hard” in the peaceful direction?
“We’re gonna peace you back to the Stone Age, motherf—er!” Colbert sarcastically threatens. “We’re gonna rain reconciliation down on you!”
Colbert move on in the monologue to discuss more about Sam Nunberg. You can watch the bit in the YouTube video below.
