After Jared Kushner had his security clearance downgraded from ‘top secret’ to ‘secret’, Stephen Colbert couldn’t help but laugh about it on the Late Show.

Donald Trump has yet to comment on the demotion of his son-in-law, Jared Kushner… but Stephen Colbert finds the whole thing amusing!

Last night on The Late Show, Colbert spoke about some big news coming from the White House. As Colbert explains, Kushner has lost his security clearance, losing access to top-secret intelligence. Before he can even crack a joke about it, the studio audience erupts into applause, clearly taking this revelation as great news.

“What’s wrong with you people, how will he fix the middle east now?” Colbert sarcastically asks. “He was so close to starting!”

Colbert explains how those with interim security clearance were told last Friday that they were going to have downgraded clearance from ‘top secret’ to just ‘secret.’ The Late Show host jokes that this means Kushner will only have access to 9 of the 11 secret herbs and spices, referring to Colonel Sanders’ secret recipe.

Of course, as Colbert points out, Kushner is still being investigated by the FBI as well. He jokes that if Kushner isn’t approved, he’ll be downgraded from ‘top secret’ to ‘Pop Secret’, and shows an animation of Kushner’s head popping popcorn. From there, Colbert moves on to talking about what’s been going on with his father-in-law, Donald Trump.
